“Armenian Foreign Ministry are using all the possibilities of Internet”, Mr. Tigran Balayan, Acting head of Media Relations Division at the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered to an inquiry of The Armenian Observer blog author – Reporter_Arm.
In an official information email sent out by the MFA Armenia today there was a link to the interview of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian to Russian Vesti 24 Channel. While the interview itself was nothing of particular interest, the fact, that it was made available on YouTube and was linked to by an official source, captured our attention. Mr. Balayan confirmed, that the MFAArmenia YouTube Channel was indeed maintained by the Armenian Foreign Ministry and that it has been around for several months already.
This is of course a welcome practice, which indicates, that the Armenian Foreign Ministry, which was among the first in the world to adopt the Electronic Visa system, which enabled visitors to Armenia to apply for visa online, is trying hard to step in line with technology. Moreover, it is interesting to see the interest Armenian authorities are paying to the Internet, blogs and video-blogs, to which YouTube is an example.

Just before the 2007 parliamentary election I started an ill-fated blogging project to try to add some transparency and one of the ideas was to get all the political parties to set up their own blogs. The project was funded by USAID and I only got around to having one meeting — with Heritage — before I was instructed not to take such an idea further. Because of that and other issues I left my own project after a month or whatever. Still, I hope that Heritage or others follow the precedents set during the 2008 presidential election, Interestingly, Raffi Hovannisian’s son, Garin, is already a blogger.
It’d be interesting to know if the foreign ministry would post a fact like this on their YouTube channel:
“About a dozen ambassadors who represented Armenia in various countries did not return to Armenia and stayed abroad after the end of their tenure,” writes “Hraparak.” Those include the former Armenian ambassadors to Argentina, Canada, Belarus, Russia, Great Britain, Lebanon, Italy, Greece and the United Nations. “According to our information, during their tenure they used their status of ambassador to create a certain economic base for leading a prosperous life,” claims the paper.

A sad fact, VO. Just curious how many of them were under Kocharian’s tenure; how many under Levon’s?
Definitely one from Levon’s time — Armen Sarkisian. He did admittedly come back to Armenia to briefly serve as his prime minister, but he upped and left soon after that. Still interesting to discover whether Vazgen really did slug him or whether it simply was his health. Anyway, he did VERY WELL indeed thanks to his tenure in London and continues to do so today.
Don’t know anything about the other countries. However, I think VO’s point was directed at the Foreign Ministry as a government body and not specifically one under Kocharian. Interestingly, Sarkisian’s departure as prime minister led on to… well, you know who, but anyway.

– Gagik Shahbazian, former Armenian ambassador to Russia, currently resides in the U.S.
– Gagik Bagdasarian, former Armenian charge to Italy, current residence unknown

– Movses Abelian, former Armenian representative to the UN, currently resides in the U.S.
Will we ever become a normally-functioning country???

This is amazing how Dens learned Arabic language, even Turks today, can not read their own archive, they get help from Muslim brothers, in order to transfer all archives to a “new testament” or western style “New Version” that can be readable “Anvar Pasha’s” love songs toward Armenian, Assyrians and Greek brotheres and sisters during 1915 events!!
I bet Turks found a “Turkish delights” inside “Danish pastry” and are looking for hungry “sweet” lovers in “EU Department” during a coffee break.
I wonder why Dens turned to Turkish archive today, but not yesterday? I wonder what was Danish reaction during “Armenian Genocide” or I better correct myself during “Christian Genocide”? and what was all about, in Danish capital, yesterday, between Turks and Dens?
This is how the snakes of the earth, twist and turn while they are crawling on their bellies, to avoid obstacles, to suit their own selfish needs !
