A group of 9 NGOs have appealed to the President of Armenia Serge Sargsyan, demanding the removal from weather forecast maps “the soviet borders of the “Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast” (non-existent since the declaration of independence of the NKR) by the Public Television of Armenia in various broadcasts”, which, the authors of the appeal say, “insults the memory of our heroes, martyrs, as well as Armenian viewers in Armenia, NKR and Spyurk. ”
The undersigned (the list includes youth wings of Karabakh political parties – ARF, AJK and “Free Fatherland”, organizations like “Young political scientists club”, “Hayk’s Heritage” NGOs), have noted, that “The Constitution of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) adopted during the national referendum in 2006 has drawn the sovereign borders of Karabakh’s land, for liberation of which the best sons of our nation shed their blood. The Constitution of the NKR has nullified the artificial and non-viable borders of former soviet “Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast” – an enclave which borders were forced upon Armenians against their will.”

It is amazing that in Armenia and sometimes in the diaspora there are still places that are using the same exact map that is used by our enemies. What will it take to get these backward Armenians to realize that Artsakh is a part of Armenia and the its borders have been ours for the past 15 years now and will continue to be!
Armen, I have to remind you, that Armenia has not so far officially recognized the independence of Karabakh. That also implies, that Armenia has not officially recognized the Karabakh Republic instituted within the borders mentioned above, so officially – Armenia shouldn’t use the updated map of Karabakh.
Armenia recognized NKAR (LGhIM) as part of Armenia in 1989. So the maps should reflect LGhIM as part of Armenia. NKR legally split from Armenia in 1991. Armenia has not recognized the splut.
So, legally, The LGhIM parts of NKR should be included in the Armenian maps since the decision by the Supreme Soviet to join Artsakh to Armenia has not been voided.

It makes no difference if Armenia has officially recognized Artsakh or not, if Artsakh is Armenian land and governed by Armenians, then it must be part of any Armenian map shown. Anyone not showing the full Armenian territory is in fact discriminating against Artsakh and all those Armenians that support Artsakh. Also by advocating the smaller Armenian map due to the “official recognition” argument you are actually helping Armenia’s enemies by instilling in people’s minds that Artsakh is part of Azeri territory.
