Predictability of predictable parties in Armenia

President Serzh Sargsian and leader of “Orinats yerkir” party exchanged niceties on Saturday during party’s congress, where Baghdasarian was unanimously reelected as head of party. The party’s executive body was also reelected unanimously. Peace and unanimous consent prevailed overall.

Sargsian called “Orinats yerkir” party “a reliable partner” in his speach.  I’m sure he remembers well the days, when “Orinats yerkir” dropped out of the Kocharian-led ruling coalition to contest the presidential elections on a pro-opposition platform and split the votes of Ter-Petrossian led radical opposition, only to jump back into the ruling coalition as soon as they were allowed back in.
That’s what I call reliable…
Artur Baghdasarian, now the secretary of National Security Council and the leader of Sargsian’s “reliable partner”- party rushed to return president’s favor by calling the union of “Orinats yerkir” with Sargsian’s Republican party “a unity of the strong”, saying the difficult days of last year’s presidential elections have made them stronger.
“We will remain predictable both for the society and for our political partners,” Bagdasarian added.
Sure, everyone knows “Orinats yerkir” will always follow the wind and be on the side of those in power.
Sounds predictable enough to me…
