Most of the world’s Christian nations are celebrating Christmas today… and I wish a fantastic, Merry Christmas to you all!
Frankly, I feel somewhat disadvantaged being an Armenian and celebrating Christmas on January 6th, when nobody else does. It feels, that we’re completely detached from the rest of the world.
Meanwhile, technology and globalization are challenging the Armenian Apostolic Church’s monopoly of single-handedly defining a Christmas day for the nation: thousands of Armenians have already exchanged the ‘free Christmas candles’ made available on super popular Odnoklassniki.ru social network, hundreds are posting Christmas wishes on Facebook, Twitter, Hyeland, and email greetings, postcards with “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year” wishes.

Look at the bright side – there are two occasions for Christmas for an Armenian. Celebrate the global one with the other people of the Christian world, and then the Armenian Christmas with the other Apostolic Armenians of the world.
Add to that the atheist celebration of the New year and BAM! There are three occasions to celebrate.

Nonsense! It feels that Armenians have independent identity and do not feel the need to follow others. Let us hope they never change their identity and never give in to pressure. The day they surrender is the day I will lose respect for them.
