Everytime I see something thrown out of a car’s window I swear: “Bastard, son of a bitch.” But I never do anything about it. I imagine accelerating my car, reaching the litter-driver and shouting from my window: “Hey, you son of a bitch, drive back and pick up your carp.” But I never do it. PACE rapporteurs urge Armenian authorities to revise media legislation

Strasbourg, 24.06.2010 – The two co-rapporteurs on Armenia of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), John Prescott (United Kingdom, SOC) and Georges Colombier (France, EPP/CD), have welcomed a series of initiatives outlined in the reply of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament to their letter recommending the establishment of a clear roadmap for reforms in Armenia. While not able to give a detailed assessment of the initiatives outlined in the letter at this stage, they cautioned that more needs to be done to ensure that the reforms address the important issues raised by the Assembly. Statement of 6 media organizations

The agenda of the RA National Assembly includes the second hearing of the package of draft amendments to the RA Laws “On Television and Radio”, “Regulations of the National Commission on Television and Radio”, “Regulations of the RA National Assembly”, “On State Duty”. Despite the few improvements against the previous version of the package strongly criticized by our organizations in the statement of February 3, 2009, the document, as we see it, remains far from the demands of the time.
